Celine & Josef | Islington | Engagement

I first met Celine & Josef at the Duke of Cambridge in Islington, London, to discuss working with them for their wedding later in the year at Islington Town Hall. They’re a French couple from Paris, who met while studying in London and lived locally. While getting to know them over a hot chocolate and coffee, we discussed the order of the day and what they wanted from me as a photographer. We then decided we would go for a walk around the area to chat more and perhaps get some shots.

I know the area quite well so I decided we would to head towards the canal, the light was particularly nice, so as we walked and talked I snapped some great shots of them chatting to each other. For the few hours we spent together I tried my best to get to know them, to get an idea what they want, as every couple is different.

I wish them all the best for their future and look forward to seeing them again soon.

Nicola & Gavin | Laceby & Hessle | Wedding

Niclola & Gavin’s wedding brought back lots of old memories. I went to University in Hull and I was looking to forward to returning back up North for the ceremony and the reception.

Untypical of the North, the weather was looking great and Gavin (prepped with his wedding survival box given to him by Nicola) was ready to take on the day. Parents, family and friends all came over and the job of getting suited and booted began with some great banter! From there we made our way to St Mark’s Church for the ceremony, a lovely church situated right in the middle of Laceby village. It was the perfect venue, and Nicola’s arrival in a vintage car was quite an entrance!

After the ceremony and confetti showering we made our way over the Humber Bridge to the Hallmark Hotel in Hessle for the reception. The views were quite panoramic with glorious vantage of the bridge and the Humber Estuary. America is very close to Nicola & Gavin’s heart, and the whole reception was themed red, white & blue. I certainly didn’t mind some of the great American style BBQ! Their first dance was the beautiful “You are the best thing” by Ray Lamontagne.

The night was finished off with fireworks on the field outside, with the lights of the Humber Bridge providing a lovely backdrop.

James & Lisa | Suffolk | Wedding

James-Lisa-suffolk-hertfordshire-wedding-photographer-42

James & Lisa contacted me early this year interested in me capturing their wedding. One of the clear rules was that they wanted natural and unposed shots, more of a document of the day and I was really excited to relish in this opportunity. I first met Lisa in a pub just around the corner from the venue as she was getting ready. As far as pre wedding brides go she was one of the most relaxed I had been around. With some pretty funky tunes blasting out of the speakers and some pre ceremony champagne flowing, the atmosphere in the room was certainly quite electric.

The Suffolk ceremony was in Holy Trinity Church, Long Melford, an absolutely huge church with amazing architecture and beautiful grounds, there was a little rain, but fortunately the pub landlord was at hand to escort Lisa to the church with a large umbrella. It certainly didn’t spoil anything. The ceremony was accompanied by a Welsh Orchestra that sung absolutely beautifully.

For the reception we moved onto James’s house in Long Melford where the grounds had been beautifully made up to host everyone. They had an amazing lake complete with its own boat, which unfortunately was deemed too tempting for several revellers, who later ended up falling in (pictures below!). There were some very moving speeches, and quite possibly one of the funniest best man speeches I’ve ever heard. For his speech James even successfully managed to try a little in Lisa’s native language, Welsh.

All in all it was a beautiful day and I wish James & Lisa all the best for their future.

Tom & Eve | Taplins Place | Wedding

crabb-wedding-photographer-taplins-place-Hartley-Wintney-33

I was happy to be asked by my good friends Tom & Eve to be a guest at their wedding. Even though we both decided I wouldn’t be the official photographer in favour of being more of a guest I couldn’t help but bring my camera along. It was a great day where even a small amount of rain at the start of the ceremony didn’t worry anyone!

The ceremony was at Taplins Place in Hartney Wintney, Hampshire, a lovely farmhouse complete with a beautiful lake. Eve arrived in my favourite car, a VW Campervan (one day I’ll own one!). The reception was great with carefully thought out decorations and some very delicious pies! But for me the absolute highlight of the evening came for the first dance, or in their case, their first gig! Eve & Tom are members of the Ska/Punk band Lead Shot Hazard, and this would be their first gig together as husband and wife. And so they played out “Can You Feel The Love Tonight” from the Lion King, with Eve on the saxophone and Tom on the guitar. Later on that night the other members of Lead Shot Hazard came on stage to join them. Overall an amazing night with some incredible live music. Thanks Tom & Eve for letting me be part of it.

Here are some of my favourites from the day.

Sam & Safia | Hampstead Heath, London | Engagement

I covered more of Sam & Safia’s story in their wedding blog post, please check it out here. However, when Sam & Safia got engaged they asked me do some nice photography of them. Sam lived next door to Hampstead Heath, a great park and one of the highest places in London so I knew the views would be lovely. It being the beginning of January it was pretty cold and windy, but still we had a great time.

What a contrast the lovely warm summer wedding they had in California! Which I was also happy to cover. Below are a small selection of the photos from that day.

And please, feel free to make a comment below.
