James & Lisa contacted me early this year interested in me capturing their wedding. One of the clear rules was that they wanted natural and unposed shots, more of a document of the day and I was really excited to relish in this opportunity. I first met Lisa in a pub just around the corner from the venue as she was getting ready. As far as pre wedding brides go she was one of the most relaxed I had been around. With some pretty funky tunes blasting out of the speakers and some pre ceremony champagne flowing, the atmosphere in the room was certainly quite electric.
The Suffolk ceremony was in Holy Trinity Church, Long Melford, an absolutely huge church with amazing architecture and beautiful grounds, there was a little rain, but fortunately the pub landlord was at hand to escort Lisa to the church with a large umbrella. It certainly didn’t spoil anything. The ceremony was accompanied by a Welsh Orchestra that sung absolutely beautifully.
For the reception we moved onto James’s house in Long Melford where the grounds had been beautifully made up to host everyone. They had an amazing lake complete with its own boat, which unfortunately was deemed too tempting for several revellers, who later ended up falling in (pictures below!). There were some very moving speeches, and quite possibly one of the funniest best man speeches I’ve ever heard. For his speech James even successfully managed to try a little in Lisa’s native language, Welsh.
All in all it was a beautiful day and I wish James & Lisa all the best for their future.
