Kate and Dan’s wedding at the Manor Gatehouse registry office in Dartford was one of the first wedding I covered in London. We were friends from university and as always it’s great seeing friends get married, and an honour being asked to capture the day.
It all started with me arriving at Dan’s parents’ house, which he and his best man had kindly vacated and which had been taken over by the bridal party! Kate and her girls were busy getting ready, and the house was having the garden transformed into the reception venue to welcome everyone a few hours later! I got some great natural shots, however, time was ticking and Kate had the most ultimate of transport awaiting her – a limousine!
Kate was driven to the registry office in Dan’s father’s Morgan, a true classic! It was such an amazing car and only complimented Kate and her dress for their grand arrival where Dan and the family were waiting. I think she was even fashionably late!
The ceremony was lovely, with some nice vows and lots of tears. From there Kate and Dan left the wedding venue back in the super posh Morgan to meet me at a great place where I could get some very natural shots of them, the Well Hall Pleasaunce. When I go off with a bride and groom I like to always make it natural and rarely posed. I try to convince people to genuinely feel and act like I’m not even there and just let me capture them enjoying their first few hours as husband and wife. And Kate and Dan were naturals!
For the reception it was back to Dan’s parents’ house that had been set up so well by his family with a stellar effort from his mum Jackie. The food and speeches were lovely and the garden atmosphere with the lights made it all so pretty. The first dance was a great tune, “Your Song” by Ewan McGregor from Moulin Rouge.
Congratulations again Kate and Dan, as always thank you for letting me be a part of your day.
